Bill was mentioning about getting one of these GPU's somewhere but I thought it deserved it's own thread. They don't usually mention timelines but a beta due in some weeks sounds promising. :cool

I am still undecided between a GTX4** or another GTX295.

On Monday i will be at my supplier so maybe i will have to make a decision.

Yeah Bill, I'm tempted to go for a 470/480, just not happy at the price so far, not that its a problem, just dont ever like to waste cash, but GFX card is the oldest thing in my latest build, so is due a replacement soon, (8800gts 640). Do let us know your decision and if you get one what your thoughts are as I trust your opinions on hardware.

If i do get a 400 series i may have to wait before installing it as folding need a new client for these cards.

Just like you i am reluctant to pay the price they ask for this unproven card, all we have are the statistics that are put out by Nvidia.

Yeah Bill I agree, great card on paper and the specs look superb but in real world its not as you say proven for us mear mortals!

I did have a mad moment when I was deciding on a Tesla - Fermi GPU, that disapeared quickly tho, its not cost really for me but more best bang per buck so to speak.

Well i got my hands on two (yes 2) GTX470s but the question is what do i do with them now???
If i install i will no longer be able to GPU fold as there are no clients yet so maybe i will just hang onto them for now.
My young neighbor has offered me 100 euros over the price if i will install one in his gaming PC so i think i will grab the money and run.:-D

    Pretty impressive specs.

WOW, nice Bill.... funny enough I was looking at the specs earlier as I got email newsletter of Nvidia with a link to the GPUs and demos, impressive.

Thinking looking at cost per usability the GTX470 is for now the best option, as I'm looking for new GPU, just wondering now if I can leave my old 8800GTS in and just use than for GPU folding and the GTX470 for other daily stuff, imaging, games etc for now.

I got the 470s instead of a 480 because after the overheating with my GTX 290 i have lost my enthusiasm for dual cards,I now intend to SLI the 470s and having looked at the performance it will put a 480 well down the list.

I have just phoned my supplier and he can get me another next week so i think i will let the young guy next door have one and make him happy.

LOL, make him happy? 100 Euros when he can't even install it himself? Is he daft or something?-D Maybe you're getting better prices than the rest can or it's not widely available so wants to be the first one on the block!

Anyways, internal testing going on ATM and limited beta 'soon'.;) Also will need to update drivers to CUDA 2.2 or 185.85 minimum. Check Vijay's blog.
