Surgery tomorrow morning.

    Hi all. Well the time has come and I'm nervous as can be expected. :eek

    Tomorrow, I'll be going in to the hospital to have a cancerous tumor removed from my chest.
    Had the radiation and chemo and now we are at the final stage, which in my case is surgery.
    Hopefully, they can get it all, but we'll see.
    I'm not done :boxing yet.

    Wishing you will and a speedy recovery... hope all goes to plan. Just remember before you go into surgery and if you have the chance, ask any questions you may still have about the proceedure (write them down if needed, so not to forget).

    I tend to tell this to the patients that come through my assessement clinic if they are a positive for disease, then next stop is the consultant, so with panic comes loss of memory, so I tell them to write every question they have down, before their apppoinement.

    I'm out of the hospital, but in a lot of pain. Hopefully, they got it all. It's been a rough time. Thanks for everyone who kept me in their thoughts and prayers.

    Glad you are out of surgery ok and I hope indeed they managed to get all the lesion, the recovery will likely be a longish one and you take care.

    Thanks all. Surgery was originally scheduled for 6am Friday the 11th, but I got a bad throat infection and it had to be re-scheduled to this Monday 2/21 @ 10 am. Surgery was brutal. Removed a "Grape-fruit" sized tumor, upper lobe of my left lung and had to by-pass the pulmonary artery.
    My wife, oldest daughter and her husband were waiting. They were told a 4 to 5 hour surgery, but after they got into it and looked around, it ended up being 10 1/2 hours.
    Recovery is rough. I have to lay on my back only, which is not too happy, as I'm a side-sleeper. Lots of pain when coughing and burping.
    Doing good otherwise.
    Have great kids that were by my side the whole way.

    Wifey keeps telling me that "Chicks dig scars". If that's the case, I'm heading to the beach. :strong

    Gotta dust off the banana hammock. :puke

    Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I'm sure that they helped during and after.

    I don't know you, but I'm glad to hear the docs took their time and did their best to get rid of the tumor. Relax, rest, and get well. Glad to hear you have such a great family by your side. Keep fighting the good fight and here's hoping you have a speedy recovery. :)
