Svcd to DVD again?

My friend turned a dvd into a svcd for me and it figures that i let someone borrow the dvd and all i have in remains to the scratched to sh*t dvd is this svcd now... So is it possible to turn this svcd back into a dvd? I know I could just go rent it, but I would like to have the know-how of turning a svcd back into a dvd... If this is possible, can someone tell me if there is software to do this...

 

I imagine it can be done. Forums at http://www.vcdgear.com/ can probably be more helpful. But there's no reason to do it. Once something is in SVCD format, it's not like you can really recover the original DVD quality. You're basically asking if you can take mp3's and convert them back into raw audio. Sure, but the quality is already gone so there' no point.

 

You can change the format back to DVD, but you won't get the better quality back. You shrink DVD to SVCD by reducing resolution and compression, reducing file size enough to fit on a CD. Your DVD won't look any better than the CD version.

But it's more technical than I ever got with DVD stuff. But that's not saying a lot.
