I have some Dell GX150's that were overheating which I resolved by adding some ventilation :major This has worked great for some but came too late for others and they still appear to be a bit slow, some don't even register the full 933MHz on the processor anymore. I also have quite a few Compaqs where the motherboard has failed, bad capacitors, but had 1.1GHz Celeron procs on them. I know that the 1.1GHz procs will work but which is better a 933Mhz PIII or a 1.1GHz Celeron. I know that the Celerons worked fine except for the motherboards in the Compaq being such a waste, but I'm not much for Intel stuff and I don't want to waste the time trying to benchmark them for performance. :bangheadThanks for any input!

For a workplace-geared system like a GX, the celerons will be better purely because they have a faster clock speed. If you had a 993MHz PIII and a 993MHz celeron, there would be no noticeable difference when placed in a GX in use in an office, as office work generally does not stress the processor very much.

It would be worth the swap if you are sure the components are compatible.

thanks for he input. I will give the 1.1's a try' it seemed faster on one while I reinstalled windows but there are so many other factors on an older machine it will be hard to tell at first.
