Does anybody know why an .swf game would not work in MS excel? I have a game here that works on other computers on the same network, but not this one. Any ideas?

Your question makes no sense whatsoever. Excel is a spreadsheet program; it is not used in any way to play "an .swf game".

The link you posted refers to a specific .swf application called Xcelsius. The article also says:
"In covering how to import a SWF into Excel, it is important to understand that there is no way to connect the SWF to the Excel data. When you generate a SWF from Xcelsius, it is completed self contained as is not tied back to the originated Excel file in any way."

So, I'm still wondering why you would want to embed an ".swf game" in an Excel file. Can you shed some light on that? Since Xcelsius is a business-related application, I can understand it being used in conjunction with Excel. If you are apparently not talking about Xcelsius, then why try to embed an .swf file in Excel?

In reference to the quote from the site, the file does not actually get connected to the data, this is true. It is embedded into the spreadsheet so that the entire thing can be saved as an .xls file. What the advantage to doing it this way is, I really don't have a concrete answer. Some theories would be, so that it could be attached to emails and distributed on a network that will not allow .exe attachments, also it requires no installation, you simply open excel and play. Maybe the link I sent was not the best example of what I was trying to show.....

Maybe those are a better example. Let me know what you think.

Do you get an error message when you try to run the game? What happens? Does this computer have the same version of Excel as the other computers on the network?

You said .swf games run OK in Excel on other computers on the network. In all cases here, are the games installed on the individual computers or on a server to which the computers are connected?

No errors or anything like that, it just comes to the start screen which has buttons (start, options, etc...), but nothing happens when you click them. All the excel, there is no actual installation required.
