Switch cpu's

I have a HP Pavillion Windows 7 8G Ram with an i3 CPU. I have a computer in the garage that is in-op, seems like the Mother board.is n.g, if the cpu, an i5 is good, would I be able to switch the two?

 

well first of all if both cpus can be taken off the motherboard and not soldered at it.
second are they same factor??
intel makes 2 diferent socket for their mobile cpus
third are the watt the same??
you do not want to put a higher watt cpu to your mainboard

then you can switch
