I have been messing with this for a few days now. I got my xbox 360 pro and computer in my room. The router is in the living room and I got a cable running from the router to my room. I bought a dlink 5-port switch and the router is netgear. When I try to connect the xbox to xbox live it wont connect when the computer is connected to the internet, I have to unhook the cat5 cable form the switch that goes to the computer then connect to xbox live then reconnect the cable and connect to the internet with the computer. anyone have any ideas?:confused

Sounds like your "router" in the living room is not a router but a cable/dsl modem?

Could you please post some details of the "router" model , Also details for the switch.

Now if i get you correctly the both work at the same time, only the xbox has to be in first. or?

also could you post the output of IPv4 address by doing Start -> Run -> cmd

and to the opening window type
    Code:
    ipconfig
Mask the first number of the IP if you are worried (like x.168.0.1)

And im just checking, you have a cable coming from your router/modem to switch, from the switch you have separate cabe going to PC, also you have another cable from switch to Xbox. thats 3 cables plugged in to switch.
