    k, i play online games alot fps games, and on another computer there are a few downloads running, LAG, my uestion is if i buy a switch such as the ones they use at lans, will i be able to play it inbetween the modem and my router and prevent the lag im getting?

    probably not....there might be some settings you can tinker with in the router to give priority to the computer that you are gaming on, but other than that, you should probably pause the downloads while you game. Your lag might not always be on your end, could be server side too

    I'd say upgrade your dload speed and put a bandwidth limit on the other pc.

    Whats your connection type and speed atm??
