Switching router problem

im switching my belkin router for a linksys router and it works but the only problem is when i reconnect any of my laptops to the internet, the internet goes offline for about 3mins before going back on.

for example when im surfing the web on my desktop and then i turn my laptop on it will try to connect to the router but the internet goes out for everything. it takes about 3mins for everything to be back to normal. no clue why this happening.
