Running SPF ver. 5.5 build 2710, on win. 98SE, IE 5.5, just noticed recently on the main page, under - "Running Applications" a icon with a large yellow question mark labled "Distributed COM Services", this could have been there since I first installed the program, never caught my eye before, anyways, the program appears to be running flawlessly, just wondered what that icon was all about ????? Any thoughts on this would be appericated.

This page from Microsoft's own site should give you a better understanding of the DCOM service.
Also the service only needed/used on a network/domain environment, on my XP pro machine I have that service disabled since it is not even needed.
It might be there because of a Sygate settings...check the program settings even its Help menu to se if it provides any info on that. Do you have MS Visual Studio or any other programming type software installed on your system?

Turcoloco, your post and link got me thinking, DCOM, I had seen that problem before, GRC - Steve Gibson's site, went there and downloaded DECOMbobulator, ran it, turned off DCOM, and no more icon in Sygate - port 135 was closed, had already been Stealthed by SPF - just thought I'd pass this on - Thanks for the help
