Sygate firewall

I installed sygate firewall from the advice given here to help protect my computer.
Suddenly my windows shutdown and said something about new hardware/software i had installed had caused the problem, so i uninstalled Sygate firewall and it seems to have stoped for now.
I was wondering iff this had happend to anyone else.

 

What OS are you running?
Tell us basic spec's of your PC.
If XP OS, did you disable windows firewall first?

I've loaded on few doxen PC's without any problems.

 

I'm running a home edition xp.
I didnt disable windows firewall, should i have? i thought it would just stack.
But it did say the problem was caused by one of the drivers of the software, i installed Zonealarm instead and everything has been working fine for now.

You should Only run one Firewall, Period.
Two will only present problems, turn off windows firewall.
Zone Alarm is good firewall, I like Sygate much better, regardless of which ya use or for any other, ya still need to turn off windows firewall.
Windows Firewall isnt bad either, for most people thats just fine.


Same thing goes for Antivirus, only run one, is ok to run spyware utilities & such with antivirus program's like spywareblaster, Adaware, Spybot search & Destroy etc.


Last note, I think the double firewall was your problem, if you keep two running you will most likely have future problem's.
