Sygate Personal Firewall

I downloaded Sygate Personal Firewall today since I don't think I had one on my system. Now every five minutes or so I get a message telling me that "WIn 32 kernel core componenet has been blocked from acessing the network." What does this mean and is this suppose to be blocked?

Okay, from the link above it says:

As a rule, if you are unsure about any application, you should not allow it to access the Internet. Only the applications that you specifically know about should be allowed. Under most circumstances, blocking the Windows kernel should not create a problem.

My question is: Even though the above quote says that blocking the Window kernel should not create a problem, are there any cases where allowing the Windows kernel could create a problem?

I wasn't sure what a "kernel" was(specifically an NT Kernel), looked it up and found this:

Which basically sounds like it's saying that the NT Kernel is a mode or process that has access to the OS's core services which is distinct from the user mode. That doesn't sound like a bad thing, however, some of the Reader Comments farther down in the article have me a little bit worried. But, because I'm tired of having this Sygate Personal Firewall message box asking me if I want to allow the NT Kernel System to access the network, hanging around on my screen, I'm going to go ahead and click "Yes." Hopefully, someone can post some more information about wheter or not there are cases where allowing the NT Kernel System(or some other kernel) can cause problems for your computer.
