Symantec NetDetect Is Driving Me Crazy!

I am running Norton SystemWorks 2004 and for some reason I can't seem to disable the damn Symantec NetDetect task in the Schedule Task folder.

I have disabled every feature in SystemWorks imaginable (including all related to Live Update) and the schedule task keeps reappearing every time I reboot, no mater how many times I delete it. I've also tried disabling it in the properties of the task itself but that does not work either.

I know it's possible because I finally figured out a way to disable it on my old computer but that was a year ago and I have since forgot.

Any ideas?

 

NetDetect checks for an active internet connection for Automatic Live Update.

I assume you would have to disable that and manually update it.

Actually Insomniac, you've been much more helpful than you realize. You already answered my question a few months ago. I found a thread I posted last year for the exact same problem:

I had totally forget about the services.msc option. I was able to disable the task as well as disable a few programs I was having trouble with during start up.
