i'll try to keep this short.... i was trying to renew my virus definitions and get another 1 year subscription... everytime i tried to confirm my order (with all my credit card information entered), it would get an error saying that it could not validate my address and credit card information... i knew all my info was correct and tried multiple times to do it.... then i later checked my bank statement and found out that i was inadvertently charged 5 times for the definitions which i never even got....

now i finally found an email contact for symantec, and my email is being processed (takes like 3-4 days =\ ), but it really ticks me off that $100 is missing from my account.... do any of you guys with your vast computer knowledge know a faster way i can resolve this issue and get in touch with symantec? i know most of their phone lines cost like $2.95 a minute and i most certainly am not paying more money to get a problem that their server caused me, fixed....

    any help is greatly appreciated....

That's an unfortunate thing about renewing online. If you hit "submit" 3 times, you'll be charged 3 times. Also, if you back and forward your browser during the process, it will submit it again.
Do you have Nortons on a disk, or is it something that was pre-installed on your computer?

but man.... it never successfully went through.... that was the whole problem... it would continually say that it couldn't validate my credit card information... yet it managed to charge me... so from my perspective.... all i saw was that it wasn't working....

Call your credit card company (Should be Customer Service number on your statement), explain the problem and ask them to charge back all the charges. This will put the charges into a limbo state until a resolution. They will notify Symantec and you will get a faster response then if you try to resolve it yourself.

  6. Can't really do much at this point but wait, however you must make sure that symantec are aware that you are an unsatisfied customer. You know the saying, ¨the squeaky wheel gets the oil¨, maybe they'll give you a freebie or something(hek, they might even admit they made a mistake.(Or in your case 5 ;) ).

I guess the best advice, would be that of johnsr.
But as a suggestion to ALL.............It's a good idea to do as I have done. Have 2 checking accounts, with Visa debit cards. Most banks offer "totally free checking accounts". Use one account for online purchases only, and the other one as your "normal" checking account. You can keep a small sum in the one you use for online purchases, to just cover what you buy online. It's easy enough to run out to a local ATM machine, and transfer money to the other account as needed. That will also cover your butt, if somehow your computer gets hacked into, and someone gets your bank account info.:)
