I done a live update from Symantec's last night and this morning I noticed I have some new files now. I found this file "Symantec Security Drivers Install Monitor" and also this Symantec Drive Monitor is also in my startup files. How I found it was I did another update this morning and it triggered my firewall. What is this and are there any concerns,or is this something we have to live with.

sadly I dont use Symantec products but I can only imagine ( until someone who uses them answers ) that these two new updates are auto update monitors that access the net on startup or at a specific time to check if there are any updates for your AV.

I'm not a great fan of programs which add many startup processes to just check for updates, now the choice is yours leave them as they wont do much harm apart from eat some more ram up or if you manually click update to update the app then untick them from MSconfigs startup list.

again not a big user of Norton/Symantec.
