sympatico shuts down

My Sympatico High Speed shuts itself down when the computer is in standby mode. It doesn't always shut down, just when it decides to do so. The operating system is xp home. Sometimes, the whole system shuts down when it gets a mind to, in the middle of no particular program. It will restart immediately, and when it does, Sympatico will have disconnected. Any chance the two problems are related? Also, is it possible that new drivers recently installed, one for a Nokia 9300 phone and the other for Adobe Acrobat 7 Standard might be conflicting with Windows?

My first guess, this is a weird one, would be to check your power settings. Under control panel, system, hardware, device manager, find your network card and check its power properties. Most by default are to allow the computer to shut it off. You might want to right click your desktop as well, go to properties, screen saver, power and bump the time up to see if this helps.

DSL or Cable? If so do your connection or status lights on the modem go out as well.

Hi!

I'm with Sympatico as well. Just a thought.... so far, any problems that I've had with a Sympatico connection, I just turn the modem off, then back on after a couple of minutes to "reset" it.
Seems to work for me,..... so far, lol.
