I have a couple of racing games (rfactor and Arca 08) that whenever I play them, every 10 seconds or so my game says "synchronizing game" and it lags out. It only does it online and I also play COD WAW and it does not affect it. I'm running windows XP with an ASUS P5ND2-SLI motherboard. Please help!

Here's what a brief search turned up:

"Another thread stated his error started after he did some video editting (which I do as well)

So I uninstalled ffdshow and any other codec packs I had installed and it resolved the problem."

Have you tried running a LAN game? Does it do the same thing?

That same brief search turned up a lot of other people who have the same problem.

So when you say "not just online," what do you mean?

Do any other games do this?

What's the internet connection you're using?

    Is this a new problem?

My computer runs the games just fine on Lan. It is only on Arca and rfactor. I can play BF2 and Cod WAW just fine online. I have 1.5 dsl and run a 8800 gts 512 video card. I did use fraps to record some clips from Arca but I unistalled it and it did the same thing.

tsanders, I will definatly let you know if I figure something out. I've missed 3 league races now.

Someone suggested trying a bigger power supply, I have a 500 watt one now.

Are you using a router? If so, what kind and have you forwarded the ports necessary for the game?

Do you have BitTorrent or any other large piece of software (Antivirus) running in the background?

And finally, I should have asked this first, is the game fully patched?

Yes, I'm using a router. I've had the game for over a year and it just started doing this about a month ago. I've used end it all and still does the same thing. The game runs on a client so it automatically patches it. Could fraps be messing it up? I appreciate your help!

Unless you're constantly running Fraps, it shouldn't be. Last time I used Fraps, yeah, it messed up my framerate, which could mean that your computer is trying to catch up to the other computer playing. However, that's probably not the case since that was a number of years ago.

If you're constantly running it with Fraps, try running it without. If you still get the problem, try these things:

    1. Try connecting directly to your cable modem.
    A. If that works, use http://portforward.com/ to select your router and the program to set up port forwarding.
    2. Uninstall Fraps (make sure you have a backup of all of your stuff!)
    A. If that works, try GameCam. If that does the same thing, well.... Don't know what to tell you.

Also, what's your ping to the server you're trying to connect?

Here is another solution: try pinging the server you are playing at.

In cmd type: "ping xxxxxxxxx -t" to ping the server indefinitely. (xxx could be the name of the server or the actual address) My problem was that I was getting 4-6 good pings and then i got one time out. This kills your connection to the server. And this is the problem of your provider
