I'm new, and desperate, otherwise I wouldn't start a new thread on something that you old pros have probably seen many times. I've looked at pages and pages of threads to find this problem---no luck. Maybe i'm just looking in the wrong place......

I let my AV software with CA expire because I wanted to try another program that didn't run so SLOW...I downloaded the trial version of Kapersky, uninstalled CA, rebooted, and then proceeded to install the new KAV. I got this error msg. saying ....The System Administrator has set policies to prevent installing this program... or something like that. I rebooted in SAFE MODE, tried to install it again----still no luck.

I am running Windows XP, and this is a home computer. Neither my grown son nor I have had any problems downloading and running new software before.

What do I do next? I'm a computer idiot, don't have a clue about modifying registry settings, so I would appreciate any help you have!!! (In very simple steps!)

    Thank you!

    Try this:

Right click on the KAV install .exe and select "Run as".

In the box that opens click on "The following user".

Type in Adminstrator, then enter the password, click OK

    See if KAV will install
