System 32 window keeps opening at start-up

Hi guys big fan of the site, sorry for the noob question but its really annoying me , I have XP Pro and the System32 window opens up on startup, I looked in the msconfig and startup tap to uncheck it but cant find it or don’t know what to look for, (prob the later) please help, thanks.

 

Just thought I add that this has been going on from day one I got my pc from dell about 2 years ago and it happened from the first time I booted up but I thought it wasn’t a big deal to just click and close the window and it was going to be a easy fix so I didn’t bother call the help desk, other than this no other problems with this pc. Thanks again for any advise.

Some other options:

1. Some Dell computers come with a factory installed Creative Labs Audigy2 sound card. Open the MSCONFIG utility Start > Run > type in MSCONFIG > click OK and deselect (uncheck) the /L:ENG entry from the STARTUP tab, click Apply, click OK and restart your computer.

2. If none of the previous suggestions solve the problem go to the link below and download & run the System32 Folder Opens Upon Boot vbs Fix. Scroll down to # 260 on the right side. Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done.

Thanks guys thanks for the advise, I thought I try the easiest solution first and go from there, so I unchecked the L:ENG entry form the startup tab as suggested by Steve then I restarted and the System32 window did not pop up, so it looks like that did it. If it shows up again I’ll try the other solutions and post the resalts.
