Hello, I want to create a system backup with windows 10 own tool, but when I search for a suitable Drive it says no drive found.
The reason I do not get it, is because I have 2 external drives with lots of space?
Please help, I am no techie.:(

On one of those hard drives- make another partition, using Windows disk management, format that new partition and then direct the backup to that partition- should still work.
I find that the backup is best saved on a clean hard drive, and kept just for that purpose.

From Microsoft's backup and restore doc:

    Note
To create a system image of a drive, it must be formatted to use the NTFS file system. If you save the system image on a hard drive or USB flash drive, it must be formatted to use the NTFS file system.

Are your external drives formatted as NTFS?

Thanks for your answers & advice, but I have purchased Acronis True Image & I have backed my C drive up using this tool, and as I understand it you should just press the Restore Button if you run into problems that can't be solved any other way, is that correct?o_O

have not use Acronis , myself- If a clone, no problem, -If a backup, you will need to read the site bumf thoroughly, as one part of Acronis can be saves backup in the 'cloud'

This is far too important to leave until you hit a problem and need to restore your backup as you would then find you haven't a clue how actually to proceed. It would be great if all you needed to do was to press the Restore button but that is the understatement of the year. In order to see what is actually involved you need to actually initiate a backup until you get to the point where you have to commit and then stop at that point. That will properly prepare you for the day you have to do it for real.

I used to use Acronis but changed to the free Macrium Reflect six years ago as I found there was no need to be paying for the latest version each year, and also the support available to Reflect users was far superior.

So do as I have suggested and come back if/when you get stuck.

Should have said 'initiate a restore', not 'initiate a backup'. Apologies.

    What version of Acronis?
Where did you store the image? I hope off the computer. If the hard drive dies, you've lost the image and all your programs and files.
Have you created a boot CD or USB stick on the chance that Windows refuses to load?

I ask this because I use Acronis from either a boot CD or USB stick (not all our computers have optical drives). The program loads into RAM. I attach one of 7 external DVDs drives that have images from 7 computers for quite a few years. I then click restore and view the images that are stored until I find the date I want and the computer I'm currently on.
I've had to restore every computer at one time or another for various problems.

My last restore was Christmas Day 2019 on the Windows 7 desktop I'm currently using. One of my BigFish Games crashed. I uninstalled it with the intention of downloading and installing it again. I could no longer find the game at BigFish so it was easier for me to restore and have the game installed and working. The image was made Dec. 14th so I had some updates like the Dec. Windows updates, malwarebytes update, FF ESR updates, and a SpywareBlaster update to again install. Then I was back in business.

I have the 2020 version, but how do I restore my system from the backup I have made with Acronis True Image, and thanks a lot for your answers.o_O
I have the backup on my 1tb Seagate HDD External Drive.
But my C drive is SSD, does that matter?
