Yesterday I played with some buttons. I hit the "Windows key"+U. I just clicked OK to get out of it and turned off the computer.

Today when I turned on the 'puter the attached pics showed on my desktop. I've never touched anything. Why should these screens turn up when I just clicked OK but showing that there were changes made? :confused It tells me that these screens will show up every time I turn on the 'puter.

I don't understand this and don't know how to make these screens to disappear and don't know how to fix it as I never touched those screens before, just looked at them some time ago (going into it in another way) and saw that I had a selective start already. :confused

I see that there are some ways to get out of it. Should I go to the normal boot or do a system restore? I believe that my system was set up a certain (personal) way years ago.

What suggestion do you have? System restore or the "normal" startup, or whatever you suggest.

    Thank you.

Additional info. I know that I didn't make any changes yesterday, just clicked on the OK buttons that came up, except that I didn't do the "restart" to which the puter was pointing to.

The "Windows key"+U is a keyboard shortcut that I just tried to see what would come up.

I would suggest that you put your machine back into normal mode and see how that works out for you

Definatly go back to normal mode, and if you need to manage startups then use Windows Defender or StartupCPL (Ccleaner also now in its Startup menu has a disable function which is more preferable to MSConfig as MSConfig is a troubleshooting tool over a Startup Manager )

If the screen shots you attached keep coming up everytime you start up the PC, just check the little box for "Don't show this message...." in the first screen shot before clicking OK. That will prevent it from opening up every time you restart. ;)

Thank you kestrel, Halo and dlb. I will try to get it started in the "normal mode" after I have received a reply to this post.

However, a previous friend of mine removed the login screen on my request over 4 years ago on my previous computer (Dell Dimension 2400) and all documents and settings (?) were transferred to my current computer by a Dell tech when I got the current computer.

That's why perhaps it's showing as a "selective" startup? I don't even remember the passwords and such and don't know how my previous friend took the login screen out. Therefore, if I select the "normal" boot will it show the login screen? If so, how to fix the password(s) as I don't remember them/it.

I would prefer to have the login screen added in again, a bit more secure although never had any problems sofar.

    Thank you.

Thank you dlb, I just found that out after I looked a bit closer at the screen shots.
