A few weeks ago, I suspected something was not right with my computer and we went through the process and it didn't look like there was anything wrong.

3 days ago, I found my computer with nothing on the screen, the UPS was blaring and I did a hard shut down. I turned the UPS off overnight to allow it to recover, then turned it on the next day and let it recharge all day. When I turned my computer on, it wouldn't boot and gave me Windows errors. I ended up going to my last restore point then used the Windows10 recovery program sequence.

Yesterday, after fully recovering, everything seemed ok until I shut down. I got a warning that another user had unsaved files and they would be lost if I shut down. Of course, I shut down anyway hoping if it was a trojan, I would slow it down.

I just booted and went directly to this forum and started trying to run scans. I tried AdwCleaner and Mbam, and can't get either to run (using right click and selecting as run as admin). What do you suggest. I'm going to shut down now and come back in a few hours.

try running the scans in safe mode of windows.

I did that and was able to run all but AdwCleaner. TimW reviewed the results and sees no indication of malware.

If this was a Win10 crash, besides doing a repair and restoring, is there any more that I can do?

Running sfc /scannow with Admin. privileges in Command prompt.
It will take 20 minutes to check and repair the system files.
    Good luck with it.

Thank you Stephen_c16. I was able to run the sfc /scannow successfully. Is there anything else I need to do?

If you feel things are working you could always make a restore point and back up your disk.
Just in case you want to get back to where you are now.
    Good luck.

Thank you, Stephen_c16! Will do. PS It does seem to be running correctly now.

There are some tools you can run from a Linux environment. Did you run hardware scans outside of Windows? If the RAM becomes unseated, or possibly worse than that, it could cause some of the symptoms you describe. If you think you can and choose to run MemTest, any red is not good.
