System crashing (IRQ conflict?)

Hi I'm new here and this is my first post.

I recently with the help of a freind buitl this system

Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI motherboard
Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon X600PRO 128MB DDR PCI-Express
Sound Card: M-Audio Delta 66
RAM: 2GB of Crucial PC3200 DDR-DIMM 512MB CL3 5ns Unbuffered, Non-parity
PSU: Fortron/Source Powersupply ATX 400W rev2 120mm, SATA Special Edition, 24pin
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz Socket 939, 512KB, BOXED w/fan
HD: Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200GB SATA 8MB 7200RPM NCQ

plus the usuall dvd / cd floppy drives, external HD and 19" monitor.

I run XP pro SP2

When my system crashes it totally freezes the mouse pointer wont move and the keyboard is dead, if a sound is playing at the time of the crash it will loop that millisecond over and over again. I read in the manual for my sound card that this maybe an IRQ conflict, however I have moved the card to the next PCI slot and checked in windows and it says "no conflicts" for all devices.

It didnt happen for ages but now its happening more and more and its getting intensly annoying. Could it be the OS ? (i'll admit its a cracked copy if you promise not to jail me lol)

it has started to happen constantly at the moment when ever i begin to play Command and conquer generals, it gets a few minutes in the game and then Craaaassssshhhh wipe out!

anyone have any ideas?? Can this sort of problem only be caused by a hardware conflict? or do you reckon it could be a software problem??


I'm extreemly open to any ideas you guys might have as this forum was reccomened to me by a friend, he's an IT guy and he says that there's some really good "geeks" on here.
