Goldenskull I can't follow the rules

Ok to start There are my system specs.

Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition 64-bit SP2
    AMD Phenom II X4 965 Speed 3.40Ghz
    8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)
    MSI 870A-G54 (MS-7599) (CPU1)

1024MB GeForce GTX 550 Ti (EVGA)
    HP vs17 (1280x960@60Hz)
    Hanns.G HW173

    149GB Seagate ST3160316AS (SATA)
75GB Western Digital WDC WD800AAJS-00WAA0 (SATA)

    Optical Drives
    ATAPI iHAP322 9

Ok My Cd Drive is a PATA and my HDs are a Sata I have a Pata HD 80 but it seems that every time i try to use it.It will crash my system out of know where. And i have the jumpers set as is i have my jumper on my CD drive as my main and then i have the HD set on slave.Even if i rearrange it.It will still crash system i even went and replaced the PATA cable.

As you can see my MSI 870A-G54 motherboard can use both Sata and PATA hard drives.I have 6 slots for the Sata and one slot for the PATA setup.

Any ideas way my 80gig Pata HD will crash system. There seems to be nothing wrong with it.It has been completely wiped. All the little pins that slide into the cable are fine none are bent.

Don't put the IDE 'pata' cd drive and the hard drive on the same cable it can cause problems, you can put two had drives or two cdroms as master slave but not a cdrom and a hard drive.
