    Hello:

In trying to reboot my system I received the following error (after I selected C;/scanreg/fix)

"Windows found an error in your system files and was unable to fix the problem. Try deleting some files to free up disk space on your windows drive. If that doesn't work, then you need to install Windows to a new directory"

I have been having some strange problems (posted in other threads) and this is the latest one. Originally I received a CMOS error and then used my Win ME book disk to restart.

Overall, the system has been acting strange and is going into the shop next Thursday.

I am thinking: clean uninstall and reinstall of o/s? New battery?

    Thanks

    ME
imo I would invest in XP or 2000 if your computer will handle it for 2 reasons

    1. Microsoft is going to discontinue support for ME and 98

    2. Xp and 2000 both are much better os and alot more stable

Thanks. Yes I know these facts, for me it is just a matter of budget and I am trying to hold out until next year. A lot of people have said bad things about XP, but I have it at work and it seems okey.

It sounds like you have a damaged Registry.

    HERE is some more information.

About 3/4 of the way down the page under More Information, it has a link on the Registry Checker Tool which might be able to repair it.

If not, you may have to install ME over itself to preserve your settings.
