System Freezes when trying to copy from a cd to hard drive

I am trying to copy information from a cd to my computer. It is a Powerpoint Presentation with all the media files and stuff. I give it plenty of time; however, it always freezes the computer. I have tried to create a zip file, too, thinking I could transfer it that way.

My computer can read the cd, it just locks up when I try to actually open it or copy from it.

What can I do? Can I transfer the info through a dos command?

Thanks for your help. I have to teach a Powerpoint class on Tuesday, and this is a file i created a few years ago, and it took 40 hours over three days to create, and I really need it.

 

Hello mate.Uv probably tried this but check ure system for viruses and adware.AVG anti-virus is free.Then get AD-Aware SE and Spy-Bot.Update them all and run them.If that doesnt work download HiJackthis run it save the report.then post it on here and some 1 should be able to let u know if u have to remove anything.
