system hang after log off

    I run Windows 2000 on a home pc with 3 user profiles. Recently whenever we type in a user name and password to log-in, the system hangs indefinitely. It typically requires a power down (holding the power button until it shuts off) and booting up again. This is required 2 or 3 times before it boots up successfully.

    Other specs RAM 256mb

    Appreciate any suggestions!
