system is closing programs

i initially had an issue where my system would close my browser (firefox) with the "firefox.exe encountered a problem and had to close...msg)

since then i've attempted the xp cleaning method
the parts of that cleaning process that i could accomplish in safe mode, i did.
the other parts that i did in normal mode.

even though my system appears to be running normally (it did close my browser one time after clean up)
now i can not install a anit-virus program
nor can i install sun java program

i'm not sure where i'm suppose to go at this point. and advice/direction is appreciated.

Does this still happen if you temporarily disable Online Armor?

 

haven't tried it while disarming online amour
i've allowed the changes that online amour warned about that were rooted from the install.

another thing i fogot to mention, with anti-virus install attempts, i always recieve a CRC failed error when unpacking the program. or, when it unpacks without alert, i'll get a corrupt file error when actually trying to install.

 

From the HJT log I see 3 different anti-spyware programs:a-squared free,S&D,SAS.Are they all resident or active?

Yes you have too much antiware but I still favour Online Armor as the culprit.

 

ok. uninstalled online amour, and mozilla firefox (because i notice when i download files, in the download window, i would see the progress bar for the files, but once it was complete the icon for that file would disappear within that download window). ran the dial a fix. included the log (attatchment). going to attempt to install comodo firewall and avira antivir.

 

successfully installed comodo firewall
i attempted to install avira antivir, as it extracted the .dll it kicked out a "crc failed" msg reguarding one of the files.

attempted to install free avg, it kicked back saying that the files were corrupted.

 

update:
successfully installed avira antivir pe classic antivirus
upon completing installation i got the following msg
"this application module
c\program files\avira\antivirpersonaledition classic\ccmsg.dll
cannot be found or has been modified or destroyed.
the AGVNT.EXE cannot be started. please check your installation!"

 

update:
booted pc in safe mode
ran remove it pro
resulted in two infected files
Infected file (Sys32.sed) C:\WINDOWS\sed.exe
Infected file (Sys32.swxcacls) C:\WINDOWS\swxcacls.exe

cleaned both files

scanning with spybot next.

 

If you suspect malware (which I think you do regarding your first post and your most recent one) Please follow all directions HERE

Then make a brand new post HERE with the results of each scan and the geniuses in malware will tell you if you got something lurkin and fix ya up good as new if ya do. Good Luck

 

i've reformatted and reinstalled windows xp.
in the process of downloading system updates and downloading security programs (firewall, anti-virus)
i notice as soon as i would install the flash plug-in is when my system would begin to start closing programs, deleting files in my anti virus program and disabling it.

so i reformatted and reinstalled again.
haven't installed any plugins.
installed all (or most of) the windows security updates.

the only issue i'm running into now, is the programs that i download, all come up with a "corrupt file" msg. and insternet explorer closes almost immediately upon running it "internet explorer encountered a problem and needs to close..."

i'll be runnig hjt and post a log soon.

 

ran spybot S&D
and Comodo Anti-Virus (for some reason, windows doesn't recognize this program..so i still have the red sheild with the "x" on it, specifying that i don't have a anti-virus program running)

both came back clean
hjt log below.

still having issues where IE7 will close upon opening.
