i've followed the 'READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support' and i've followed the steps but my system keeps stopping and pops up with the blue screen.

i'm not sure if it's a spyware problem or not but when the error reportwas sent, the error report page came up with fwcore.sys as the problem.

    http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=721a65ea-212f-45a2-9c14-035b590b5d5c&SID=1436

that's the exact link to the error report.

it might have something to do with eacceleration. i subscribed to their virus protection before i found out that they were the spyware suppliers and etc.

    the blue screen basically showed:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    technical info:

    **** STOP: 0x00000D1 (0xFE812000, 0x0000002, 0x0000000, 0xF90F808B)

    **** fwcore.sys - Address F90F78AA base at F90F1000 DateStamp 40876d06

the system stop has occured at least 15 times so far. i'm trying to type this error report before my system stops again.

also yesterday the technical info changed a bit. still the the fwcore.sys though

i was also wondering if the system configuration utility was supposed to be in selective start up or in normal. everytime windows starts, a window pops up saying that its in selective and i should be in normal.

    I HAVE A DELL COMPUTER
    WINDOWS XP
    VERSION 2002
    HOME EDITION
    SP 2
    PENT 4
    256MB of RAM

sorry for all the mistakes. just wanted to post this up before my system stopped

**also, the system scans and such only showed like 3 spyware problems and 1 virus. fixed that but my system keeps stopping. any help would be very helpful. not sure if this is a spyware problem or if im in the right section. THANK YOU THOUGH

This is a software problem, if you post in the software forum, you will get excellent assistance there.

Better yet I'll have this thread moved to software for you.

It is pointing about StopSign Firewall. Which means that it is a software problem with eAcceleration's product, not WinXP. The DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL which is caused by fwcore.sys, which used to be classified as Malware.

Try removing the StopSign product and see if it happens again. Also look in the Events Log in Admin Tools to see if there are any other errors reported in there. There are other products out there that are better like ZoneAlarm or even Tiny Firewall.

oh. i deleted eacceleration a LONGG time ago. prob over 2 years ago. and i have mcafee's firewall. i don't get why eacceleration would still be left on my comp. even traces of it.

Run HiJackThis and look through the log. Also, bring up Regedt32, and do a search (Edit) of the fwcore.sys, along with same on the hard drive. There are still traces of eAcceleration's software on your harddrive.

You may have to "Show" hidden files and directory's in order to find the traces. Obviously the directory may also be in there.
