System process consuming CPU power.

I'm not exactly sure when this problem started, but whenever I go to play a game (CS:Source, Guild Wars) the System process immediately starts eating resources and causes my games to stutter. It consistently uses anywhere from 2% to 21% of my CPU power until I exit the game.

I've taken all of the proper steps on this site to eliminate spyware and viruses and my system is now squeaky-clean, yet this problem persists (note: the scans did find a couple viruses, but they were all successfully cleaned/deleted). This is an incredibly frustrating issue and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Please pardon if I'm wrong, and I'm sure that other members will tell me if I am, but it should be perfectly normal for a game to use that much and more of system resources while being played. I'm surprised that you got by with that light of a hit on system resources.

Hmm, I just reinstalled my sound drivers and it somehow fixed the problem for the most part. Hopefully I'm not just seeing what I want to see ;P Glad it happened either way though, otherwise I wouldn't have found those viruses.
