Running XP-Home, IE7. When I try to view a video file my system reboots!

Also, the ICONS on the desktop keep Left Justifing. I've tried everything I can think of to prevent this, even loaded "Iconoid". Iconoid will restore the Destop Icons to a previously saved positions.

    Greetings and welcome to Majorgeeks!

Is this a streaming video from the internet, or is this video located on your computer?
What kind of video is this? WMF, MPG, AVI, etc?
What video player are ye using?

Do you have any files located under c:\windows\minidump?
First, thing I do is the following:
Right click on "My computer", select Properties, then select the "Advanced Tab".
Next select the button "Properties" under "Startup and Recovery".
Uncheck the box "Automatically Restart" under "System Failure".
    Press OK, then OK.
Next, rerun that video file. When the computer "reboots", it should stop at a BSOD (Blue screen of death).

Give us the information on this. Should have info near the top, (example (Bad_pool_caller)).

    Then info near the bottom: (example (0x00000080 (0x0000000, 0x000000, 0x000000, 0x00000)).

    Give us this info. :)

    Thanks,

When was the last time ye updated any drivers? Motherbord (inf), video card, etc?
If not lately, try newer versions.
When did this start happening for ye? Since ye updated to IE7?
Are ye using any USB devices?

I updated the video driver. Have been using IE7 for some time. Have a USB
printer. Everything was working fine. I, also, have a problem with my destop
icons continuely left justifying themselves. I use ICONOID to reset icons.

So, you just now updated the video driver, or you did previously?

For a test, remove the unplug the usb printer, from the computer, and try the video again.

    OR,

Click START, then RUN, then type in msconfig (press enter).
Click the radial button, "selective startup".
Then uncheck the box "Load startup items".

    Press ok, yes to reboot.

When the computer reboots, a box will appear, asking if you wish to view msconfig (basically). At this point. Try playing a video file.

1 - I downloaded and ran the "fix" for the "desktop icons". It didn't work!

2 - I tried the MSCONFIG suggestion to view a video file - same result!

Anyone have a magic wand ?
