In searching for a basic video editing program for Windows 10, I keep coming up with Windows Movie Maker, I think part of Essentials.
Yet when I check system specs it seems to go to Win 8 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
I don't know what Windows Server 2008 R2 is (I read the basics in Wiki) but it seems not to include Windows 10.
Does WMM work with Win 10 x 64?

Do you know of a simple video editor if WMM is not appropriate?

    TQ

You asked for a simple video editor.

    WMM only supports these formats:
    • Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma.
    • Picture files: .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf.
    • Video files: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv.

When I used Windows XP daily, I installed K-Lite Codec Pack, and I could import most video files into WMM.

Why you lost the files, is anyone's guess.
When a progran doesn't support a file type, it won't import or open that file type.

Do you want an alternative video editor?
