    hi all.
I tried to update the drivers for a
PCI Adapter Name: NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT (Microsoft Corporation)
    Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Location Information: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0
    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_002C&SUBSYS_001C10DE&REV_15
    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_002C&SUBSYS_001C10DE
    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_002C&CC_030000
    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_002C&CC_0300
Driver Name: NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT (Microsoft Corporation)
    Driver Version: 2.9.5.8
    Driver Date: 7-2-2001
    I thought it might help.
    was i ever wrong.
tried to go back to the old drivers and system restore does not work.
it goes thru all the motions and after i reboot it says system restore incomplete.
then i went into safe mode and tried system restore with the same results
i removed the old drivers with Nasty File Remover to make sure the old drivers are gone.
believe it or not i did not back the old files. this is the first time ( and the last time i will do that )
    what can i do??

this is what i have now
PCI Adapter Name: NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT
    Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Location Information: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0
    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_002C&SUBSYS_001C10DE&REV_15
    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_002C&SUBSYS_001C10DE
    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_002C&CC_030000
    Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_002C&CC_0300
    Driver Name: NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT
    Driver Version: 6.1.7.7
    Driver Date: 7-15-2004

i know i should have asked questions first but i wanted to see if i could do it and i like to learn.

Hi all I wonder if I might ask a question here. Is that driver you reference above good for a Nvidia Geforce2 MX 100/200. I keep getting crashes that say it was caused by a driver but they all are working properly as far as device manager knows. It usually crashes when I click on something like "run email client" from my email notifier, or click a link and something tries to open real quick.

That driver is good for your particular video card, yes. Can you post the text in the crash or error you get when these events happen?

In all honesty I have no idea what that error means... what happens when you click the words option in that window?

I doubt that the problem you're having has anything to do with your videcard though. What version of Windows do you have, and have you tried scanning for virus', spyware or trojans? It could also just be a bug in the software that you're using to access your email client.

Now that I see it works I also have this. Whoops the file is too large . It basically says the error was caused by a device driver update if available.

Then about the only thing I can suggest is to go through and make sure you have all your device drivers updated, including whatever critical and service pack updates that are available at windowsupdate.com

I didn't ever click it. I never really knew it was there. Will do it next time. I think it could also have something to do with memory. I am going to leave the driver alone. I also get page fault in non paged area blue screens telling me to disable caching and shadowing. I think I will run Memtest 86 tonight and see what it says. Thanks for help

I don't think there is any need to debug your dump file.

What version of drivers did you come from?

Did you use NFR as meandog did (two questions in one thread, confuuuzzing!)
