    Hi

I have been trying to make a restore point using System Restore but I keep getting the following error message 0x80042306. I've searched via Google for a fix but everything suggested does not work to correct the problem. My laptop runs Windows 10 64 bit. I would appreciate any help to get this corrected. Thanks.

Two things to check - that System Restore is turned on for the drive you want to protect, and that some disk space has been allocated for the restore points. You can check both by opening System Restore and checking the settings.

Hi Thanks very much indeed for your assistance. I have fixed my laptop and its back to 100% . I had difficulties installing the cumulative updates in Windows Updates and decided to restore my March 2018 backup which was also not perfect but was a better state than my laptop was and redo all the Windows updates and magically all my problems disappeared. My System Restore as well as my System Image backup, which had not worked for many months, were all working perfectly and all my updates installed properly. Again thanks so much for your kind help.
