I recently purchased a PC that's about 2-3 years old. It's a Dell Dimension 9200 with XP Home on it (I believe.)

Long & short of it is it has a system password on it. It doesn't even get to the boot screen where you can enter the setup. I want to do a system restore on it so that I can get some use out of it.

Any ideas on how I can accomplish this? Maybe hooking the hard drive to another comp? I'm @ a total loss & any help would be greatly appreciated! :confused

    Thanks!:)

It sounds like the computer has a bios password. The easiest way to fix this is to open up your case and take the CMOS battery out (looks like a watch battery). Hold the power button on the front for about 15-30 sec, and then put the battery back in and restart your computer. The password should be gone, along with all your BIOS settings. At this point, your computer will reset the settings to factory default.

Awesome! I will give that a try today & if I'm still having issues I know where to find you! :) Thanks a lot!
