    Hello
Yesterday I checked my system restore which I often do and found the points were erased and it was tuned off. There was another C:\ "missing" there under the regular C:\.
I use Ccleaner's Windows section only, and have Defender and MBAM.
What could have caused this? I ask so I prevent it in the future.
    TY

You are going to have to explain what you mean by this.

I should have taken a prntscrn.
    System restore had 2 entries; 1- C:\ and 2- C:\ missing.
It also was turned off and the points were gone.
This was after the big update.
I did not know if anyone with Win 10 had checked their system restore.

Just go back into System Restore settings > turn it back on, then > configuration and set it for the correct drives you want it to apply do, ie your main system drive. Use the slider to set the maximum amount of THAT drive's space you want it to use.

I have already rectified the damage thank you.
I was just conveying this to the forum to see if it occurred to anyone else.

OK great and yes there did seem to be instances of SR turned off in some Win 10 updates.

Right from the beginning in Win 10 for me, SR was turned off and disk usage was set to zero. I set 5% and turned monitoring on. I haven't checked it since October's Patch Tuesday but, I will now.

Yes, I hope more people do check their system restore. I do a weekly maintenance and that is when I set a new point if it is not done automatically.
I only use 1 % but that is a matter of preference. If I did not have Macrium, I would likely use more .

System restore has been deactivated on my 2 PCs by the upgrade to Windows 10 then again by the Anniversary update.
I did think it was a fairly widespread problem and there must be many without system protection!

Yes users should certainly check that if SR is disabled that they simply turn it on again. But it only happened on one of my 4 systems, so it doesn't seem to be automatic on every Win 10 system. Why? No idea.

I would not want to be one of those who was deactivated and needed to restore only to find zero.
For all my complaints with Windows, I think they do a good job. I just left a forum dealing with the android phone. I think the big brother attitude Google has is far worse than anything Windows could come up with. I paid for my phone, pay for my service yet all flavors has a grip on what I can do with the SD card, The permissions will be tighter with Nougat.
It is my business, not theirs if I root MY phone or what I do to it. I pay the consequences.
    GGGRRR - now I feel better. :)

I for the sake of my SSD, have turned Page File Cache and System Restore off. There is nothing that I do that screws up this beast of a machine of mine. I did run into a problem of getting a hijacked Chrome Browser. But that was fixed with uninstalling it, scanning with my various software, using tweaking.com to fix some Windows errors from something that happened to running like butter again.
