System Restore

I have Windows ME and my system restore doesn't work. If I try to restore to a earlier time it keeps telling me the restoration was unsuccessful. Anyone know what could be wrong?

I'd be carefull using system restore, I have had it cause my system to crash twice (slow learner) I got wise and shut it off. I now use Go Back, and have never had a problem (yet). I usually try to find the source of the problem now though rather than gambling on a restore process. I don't know if that's a common problem, but be sure you have everything backed up if you're going to use it.

 

System Restore doesn't crash computers.

How could it? It merely backs up your registry and certain key files.

 

I really don't know, and maybe it's never happened to anyone else, but it happened to me twice. After using it I believe I got a message that "system restore was unable to complete restoration" and none of my programs would load and the pc would freeze. When I tried to undo the restore, or restore to another point, none of them would work. I don't remember the exact specifics of it now though. I just know that it's very frustrating. I'm just suggesting backup, and maybe I shouldn't have posted, since I still don't even consider myself a minor geek.
