system restore...

hey guys, i was wondering, i have my computer running perfectly right now, like i want it after a format last week, so i have been creating system restore points every day, anyways, if i say get a virus, can i just restore to a point the day before the virus affected me, and will everything be the same as before the virus hit?

everything will be as it was "yesterday", but make sure you destroy the virus first.

 

what would happen if i didn't destroy the virus? and what would happen if say i downloaded a file (lets say a music album) the day that i was infected with the virus, if i system restored to the previous day, would the music album be gone?
