System Restore

i recently had to preform a complete system restore on my computer. my question is...i know that all files are lost when doing a restore...but is there any way i would be able to retrieve any files after the restore?

 

Not all files are lost.

My Documents folder isn't affected by System Restore.

all my files in "my documents" were lost...and those were the ones i wanted to find.

 

I don't know how that can happen, System Restore doesn't affect data in My Documents, My Pictures, or My Music folders.

 

No, but it DOES affect user accounts and how you log into them. Sometimes they even disappear (the files stay behind, the account settings in the registry are lost).

Check C:\Documents and Settings


See if you have two folders with your profile name.

One will have the computername appended after it.

 

ok people....my mistake....let me correct myself.

it was a SYSTEM RECOVERY that i did and NOT system restore.

so now what do you think?
