System restore will not restore to another date. When the restore is almost complete and the final restore page appears, it just reads in red letters "unable to complete restoration" please try another date. I tried 5 different dates in different months but still get the same essage. I use win XP Home edition. The initial reason I tried to restore is because my system is freezing up occasionally over past few days but I have not added any new programs or downloaded anything. Any suggestions? Thanks....tomr70

If you are able to boot at all, then try running the ScanDisk (Error checking) with both options checked.

I'm not familiar with ScanDisc error checking. How do I do this?....tomr70

If you can boot the system (normal or Safe mode):
START > My Computer > Locate the C drive and right-click on it > Properties > click on the 'Tools' tab > click on 'Check now...' button under 'Error-checking' > on the new window check both boxes (normally you would only need to check the top box) > after you click on 'Start', the prompt will state that it will be done after rebooting the system with options [Yes] or [No] > click on Yes and then reboot your system.
