    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Neglible items should be totally ignored. They are a complete waste of your time to look at. And as far as critical items are concerned, be careful Ad-Aware presents cookies as critical items and cookies are not problems either. Unless you give us specific problems by name, we cannot help you with them.

HijackThis is not a malware scanner! Nor is it it a tool that will tell you why your PC is running slow.

Right now I would be the biggest factor for your PC being slow is that you are running McAfee's Internet Security Suite which is probably using most of your PCs resources and is thus slowing down everything you do.

If you would like to check your PC for malware issues, we can do that; however you will need to follow the below steps and make sure you install and rename HijackThis properly which is covered in the procedures. Also you must not use MSConfig to control startup like your log shows that you are doing. This is also covered in the procedure.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

HijackThis is the item that says not for new people (actually it says it is only for experienced users). You did not post in the wrong place if you have malware problems, but as implied in the READ ME, a PC running slow is not always caused by malware. The best way to determine if you have malware problems is by running the READ ME. A HijackThis log is for detecting browser hijackers, for seeing a running list of processes, and for displaying only a few out of the tens of thousands of registry keys that exist. By itself, a HijackThis log does not provide adequate information to diagnose malware problems.

When running the READ ME, do not miss the uninstalling of Viewpoint Manager (and any other Viewpoint software) as listed in the long list of things to uninstall in step 0 of the READ ME.
