I just did a clean install of XP Pro.
So far, Ive put on SP1, and the chipset drivers (Nvidia 3.13's, for my A7N8X Deluxe mobo). I have also installed daemon tools. Thats about it.
When connected to the internet, it was working fine (connected via PCI 56K modem). Then, a message popped up saying something about NT AUthority/System, that the Remote Prodedure Call (RPC), terminated unexpetedly. It gives me 1 minute until it shuts down the computer.
It has done this 3 times; the first time, while i was surfing the net; afterwards, someone called and said that they had called earlier, about the time i was booted.

Another time, when I disconnected from the internet, the same message popped up.
It happened again, after I rebooted, and was on the internet trying to find out what was causing it at Microsofts knowledge base. Came up empty. then, the message popped up again.

Im not sure why its doing this; so far, my best guess is that when there is a problem with the connection (someone calls the phone, or, I try and disconnect), that the comp doesnt like it.
I will be switching back to high speed in a few weeks, but, for now, this is really annoying and I dont want any issues with my install.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi all just a reminder that when you do a fresh installation of XP you must then load service pack one followed by your firewall and then when you connect to the INTERNET you go straight to the windows update site ONLY For the critical updates which will prevent this virus from infecting your computer. Failure to take this advice you will get the above virus as outlined by kodo

i would like to add that you download the patch to a floppy and keep it around so the next time you install, just patch it before you jack in. Then you can take your time and not worry.
