System Sieze

Hi. I have installed a Biostar P4M80-M7A V7.0 mother board into my pc, coupled to an LGA 775 Intel 531 P4 3.0GHz CPU. I installed XP with no real issues, but after installing the anti-virus and LAN Mgr for my PCI wireless card, It froze up on me everytime I tried to browse online. I bought a new Seagate 80Gig Hdd, and installed XP again, and encountered the same issues... Long story short... between using both WinME and WinXP, upgrading BIOS, all drivers and upgrading to a 400Watt PSU, plus not installing the wireless PCI card, using only the onboard ethernet LAN, it still freezes. Less often by far with ME, but everytime I play Age Of Empires, within 2 minutes, I'm siezed. Is this a bad MOBO? Or is there a simpler answer that I am just overlooking? Thanks.

 

If this is a new MB and the problem has been there since the new MB was installed, I would suspect a RAM issue. Even if it's the correct speed and type of RAM it may simply be a compatability problem. I find this to be fairly common when installing new MB's even with new RAM. If you have other RAM available, try it. When I have this problem I usually resolve it by installing PNY or Kingston RAM. If your a gamer you may want to go with Corsair.

 

Okay. Although I have not tried Those particular types of RAM, I have switched ram between the computers that I have here. They are three different brands, but all three are 512 MB pc 2700. Thanks for the quick reply.
