System Sound Works, but nothing else does

Hello, First time posting here so here it goes.

I am running XP Professional, When I boot the CPU on I can hear all system boot up sounds, and when I open the media player it will work as long as I leave it open and running, however after a few minuets ALL other sounds other than system sounds will not work. If I close the media player and try and open something like Quicktime it wont work. I try and re-open media player, and none of the files will play. I play a game no luck. I have attempted to use a restore point, no luck same signs. I have done virus scans nothing. Getting a little stressed here, and a little agrivated, sometimes when I reboot and start everything up it works fine, other times ill get the signs as listed above. Anyone have any ideas?

 

Anyone? lol still working on it, have conducted malware, regvac, spybot and nothing yet.
