System Standby on XP

Not sure I am even in the correct thread area, but any how...
put my computer in standby mode and now when i do wake it up mouse and keyboard don't work so goes back into standby...so how do I wake it up?

We need a little more information: what's your operating system version and Service Pack #, and what type of machine are you running (brand name and model #, etc.).

Any additional specs and symptoms you can provide may prove helpful.

***From your "mouse and keyboard don't work" statement I'm assuming this is a desktop computer - are these USB devices? Also, have you tried powering down the machine completely and then restarting?

It is a Dell..that has had some of the innards upgraded by a computer geek herself and has been running fine...the keyboard and mouse are USB...I was able to get it to the F2 screen and the keyboard worked in there but I am too slow and it went back into sleep mode
It is a desktop and is running sp3

 

So any guesses?

maybe you have to change your Power Options via Control Panel but you are waiting for more information from another member i think :wave
