    Greetings,

First, here is my pc: AMD athlon 2400+, mb Azza Via KT-400, 512 ram, HD 80 GB, HD 20 GB, Radeon 9800pro 128mb

The only significant change in these days is the installation of windows SP 2, but the problems came after that and anyway I tried to restore an older system and registry configuration and it solved nothing.

since a pair of days I'm experiencing strange phenomenons with my pc: first of all, sometimes, when running applications, the system suddently turns off on its own. It doesnt seem to happend during particularly stressing moments...it just happens, and it never happened before (nothing changed in my hardware, room temperature and general conditions).

I thought it could be my cpu temperature getting too high, so I installed Speedfan. It detects 63°C right now while I'm writing, which is not exactly a low temperature...but it never lead to problems before. I'm going to buy a new more powerful fan anyway, but if this doesnt solve the problem...what could it be?

Second problem: my video often shows a shaky image, expecially on the edges of the screen. It's like there are small waves in the screen...this happens during booting too so I don't think it's a drivers problem. The video card has only 3-4 months of life and never had problems. BUT I must say this stupid Azza motherboard has a very low quality AGP socket, and it's very difficult to put the card in...right now not all the pins and contacts are fully inside the socket, because I just can't press it more than this. Nevertheless, this never caused any problem before.
Should I try with a different monitor, to see if that is the problem? Or with a different video card? Or could be something else?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks a lot,

first, try taking the side off your case and blowing a fan inside and see if it still shuts off.

second, move EVERYTHING away from the monitor. any type of interference can create waves in the display. if that doesn't help, try either a different monitor, or try your monitor on a different pc.

Sounds like Sasser worm. There is a worm removal tool here that should fix it.
