system wont boot normaly

on start up the computer keeps going to scan disk and keeps looping, tried to open in safe mode and after clicking start in safe mode it goes through normal start up than right back to scan disk.need help

running xp home 512 ram

 

When it when into scandisk did you let scandisk finish or did you just restarted your computer....??

 

yes I let it go through scandisk about 6 times cause it constantly went into scan disk, thank you for asking and replying , also tried to start the computer with the last known good configuration and still after the icons load the computer goes back to scandisk, I think there is a problum with the start up files and I have to get a system cleaner and boot from a floppy
