hi everyone, can anyone tell me why my system32 folder has packed its bags and left, my os is still working fine (?),
all the files seem to have migrated to i386 in my service pack folder.

i have w2k pro with service pack 4,

this doesn't seem a problem but i would like to know, just in case

Do you have show hidden and system files enabled)?

Can you bring up a cmd prompt and type in:

    cd %windir%\system32 (press enter)

hi bud, checked 'show hidden files and folders' still not there, i have a program called opensub it doesn't show in there neither, never used cmd so a bit apprehensive about it but tried and it showed a path at the top (c:\winnt\system32\cmd.exe) in blue and c:\documents and settings\dave\> on the page - thats as far as i got

So in other words, you CAN NOT click start, then RUN, then type in: c:\winnt\system32 (press enter) ?

Are you the administrator to this machine?

    Ahhh:

So, you are doing a SEARCH...within explorer? Then you need to check the following box with the SEARCH function.

When doing the search, under : -> More advanced options, make sure that "Search System Folders", "Search Hidden Files and Folders", and "Search Subfolders" are ALL checked. Try again.
