    Hello,

I have a issue with a T41 motherboard not seeing the Soundmax chip or the modem. When I go into the device manager and select view hidden devices the Microsoft System kernel system audio device driver and the Microsoft WINMM WDM audio compatability driver are not there.

What could be the issue? I have installed XP and 2000 with the same result.

    Thanks

Did you enable those devices in the BIOS Setup Menu?

    Hello,

I could not find anything about these devices in the Bios.

I have upgraded the bios and downgraded.

The only thing I see is under PCI and they are all set to IRQ 11.

    Thanks

If these devices are "integrated peripherals" with the motherboard, they will be in the BIOS Menu. Be sure you go through each menu item and note some pages you have to scroll down to see all options.

    Hello,

I will check out all of these menu items and get back to you.

I will try to get screen shots them all.

    Thanks for your help.

That would be a lot of screen shots. Hopefully you will just see it. You should look in your manual. If you don't have one, the motherboard maker's web site should have one to download.

    Hello,

Well I have gone through every item in the bios and in no way shape or form is there anything to enable or disable the on board audio or modem.

    Things done.

    bios updated.
    bios downgraded
    bios updated again.
INTEL PCI controller interface chip driver reintallled.
Tried loading modem and sound drivers with no success.

    Still nothing.

I have resigned the fact that I have a faulty motherboard not seeing the AC97 audio and modem. The faulty device is more than likely the PCI controller.

    Thanks

Sorry I could not help further. Hopefully someone else will stop by and know the answer.
