Tablet Memory help

    robertbiferi I can't follow the rules

    I have a Tablet with Androde Ice Cream Sandwitch.

    And it has 8 GB of RAM and I have the programs listed but the memory thay take up.

    14.69 MB
    25.76 MB
    21.62 MB
    6.38 MB
    6.75 MB

    Now I ad this up and get 75.20 MB but it tells me 1.7 GB is used and that I have 4.9 GB free?

    Now my Tablet has 8 GB of RAM please help what am I not getting?

    The Android OS. It takes up drive space also along with Google's apps and those installed by the manufacturer.

    Is there a way to Root the Tablet to get rid of APPs that you can not un install to free up space?

    I passed on rooting at least until the warranty expires. There are only so many of the default apps you can remove without crippling it. Get a microSD card for your movies, music, etc. Once you've done it, you cannot go back. Ever.
